Carbon fiber composite materials have the advantages of being lightweight and having high hardness. The company has strengthened industry-university-research cooperation with universities, deeply explored the mechanics of composite materials, and replaced some components of this vehicle model made of steel with carbon fiber composite materials. As a result, the overall weight of the vehicle has been reduced from 3.4 tons to 2.4 tons, thus reducing energy consumption.
Deeply aware that lightweighting is the development direction of the future automotive industry, and taking fully into account issues such as the enterprise innovation chain and talent connection, since the beginning of this year, the Lingang District has been actively attracting investment both internally and externally. Based on the original industrial planning and layout, it has continuously increased its efforts to attract enterprises and projects in the carbon fiber field, universities, and scientific research institutions. It has carried out investment promotion activities in regions such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Yangtze River Delta, and invited customers from other places to visit the Carbon Fiber Industrial Park, striving for more talents, universities, and the Carbon Fiber Industrial Park in the Lingang District to carry out cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results. "This year, we newly introduced a professor from Tongji University. Focusing on the needs of RV enterprises such as reducing the weight of the chassis and the shell, he will conduct research and development on vehicle lightweighting technology," said Wang Zhansheng, the Chairman of Weihai Lingang New Material Industry Development Co., Ltd.
As the main carrier of the industry, the Carbon Fiber Industrial Park in the Lingang District has been actively making strategic arrangements. It integrates various resource elements such as "government, industry, academia, research, finance, application, and service", and comprehensively promotes the coordination of the industrial chain, supply chain, innovation chain, talent chain, and capital chain. This further guides the carbon fiber industry to gather resources, integrate innovation, and develop in clusters.
"Since the beginning of this year, we have successively reserved and attracted seven high-end industrial chain projects, including those in the production of carbon fiber composite material equipment as well as in fields such as aviation and building reinforcement," said Wang Zhansheng. With the expansion of the carbon fiber composite material market, the Lingang District has sorted out various fields of carbon fiber one by one and carried out targeted investment promotion efforts, striving to fill in and strengthen the application fields of the carbon fiber industrial chain.
