"This vehicle is amazing! It's beyond my wildest dreams to be able to have a hot meal and a bowl of hot soup on this deicing platform which is so far away. It's much more convenient now!" Wu Wenhui, a deicing worker at the Xinjiang base, exclaimed on the mobile support vehicle.  

Recently, a large-scale cold wave hit Xinjiang, causing a cliff-like drop in temperature. In order to ensure flight safety, every early morning, nearly 20 deicing and anti-icing workers need to stay on the deicing platform at the west end of the airport runway for a long time and complete the deicing and anti-icing work before the aircraft takes off.

The deicing platform is located in a remote area, which has brought a lot of inconvenience to the workers. After learning about the needs of the employees, the technical branch company conducted in-depth research and judgment on feasible solutions, and equipped a support vehicle with various facilities such as air conditioning, a restroom, heating, a microwave oven, and an external power supply in the shortest possible time.  

The deicing season in Xinjiang lasts for half a year, and it can get as cold as nearly minus 30 degrees Celsius at the coldest time. The deicing platform is surrounded by open space, and the cold wind blows fiercely. The deicing commanders need to work in two shifts to prevent the workers from suffering from hypothermia.  

Now, the heating system equipped in the mobile support vehicle can keep the temperature inside the vehicle above 20 degrees Celsius for a long time, providing a warm working environment for front-line workers.

Under normal circumstances, the deicing personnel need to arrive at their posts at 6 o'clock in the morning, and they can't leave the deicing platform until all the aircraft on that day have completed the deicing process and successfully departed from the port. In case of adverse weather conditions such as snowfall, they may even have to stay there until late at night. Previously, although insulated boxes were used for transportation, by the time the food reached the workers and they ate it in the pickup trucks, it would get cold before they finished.  

Now, the mobile support vehicle is equipped with devices such as a microwave oven and a kettle. Employees can enjoy hot meals inside the vehicle.

"Previously, when we were working on the deicing platform, the restroom was quite far away. When our mouths were dry, we would just take a small sip to moisten our throats and didn't dare to drink too much water. Now that this support vehicle is equipped with a restroom, it's much more convenient!" Wu Hongming, a deicing worker, said happily.

The deicing platform is located at the west end of the runway, and it takes a half-hour drive to reach the nearest rest area in the terminal building. In order not to affect the aircraft support work, the aircraft maintenance workers try to drink as little water as possible to avoid spending too much time going back and forth to the restroom.

Now, the mobile support vehicle is equipped with facilities such as a toilet and a sewage tank, which can meet the basic physiological needs of the employees and completely solve the urgent problem faced by the workers at remote aircraft stands.

In recent years, under the leadership of the technical branch company, the Xinjiang base has continuously promoted the practical activity of "I Do Practical Things for the People", focused on the issues that employees are urgently concerned about, in difficulties, worried about and longing for solutions to. It has carried out in-depth investigations and adopted effective measures for improvement.  

Last year, the "Warm Snacks" project at the Xinjiang base received unanimous praise from employees. It enabled hot meals to reach the employees' work sites directly, breaking through the "last mile" of meal delivery, and won the approval of front-line employees.
